Norwegian Malin Westerheim - the First Winner in Osijek

It was the Norwegian Malin Westeheim who was the first gold medal winner in the 2013 European Championship in Osijek.

She won the 50m Rifle  3 x 20 Junior Women event. After the competitions Malin Westerheim, who is 20 now, said:

-   I’m so happy and satisfied. This was not my perfect shooting but it was good enough. It was quite difficult to shoot while it is so hot here in Osijek. I was in Granada a few weeks ago and I think that it helped me a lot. My first two parts (Kneeling and Prone) were not as good as I expected and I decided to concentrate myself on the last part (Standing).

-   I’ve been training and competing a lot so I knew that I´m in good shape.  When I heard the audience applaud before our last shot, it made me smile and the focus disappeared a little bit, but when I started my sighting I calmed myself down and decided to finish this competition with a good ten. And I did it.

The two other medallists represent Germany: Jaqueline Orth and Selina Gschwandtner.

The winner of the team competition was Germany, silver medals went to Norway and bronze ones – to the Russian Federation.
