Sarlóspuszta is ready for the European Shotgun Championships

Eighty years ago (1934) Hungary organised the first separate World Shotgun Championships. Now, in 2014, they organise the Championships for the second time, but this time it’s the European one – for the first time in Hungary. The Championships will be held on the 16th -27th June in Sarlóspuszta Shotgun Shooting Sport Center.

«It is a great honour and opportunity to organise these Championships. This will give us also possibility to measure the skills of our athletes among the other Europeans. But more important is that we can advertise our fine sport, because the Championships can be watched on TV and Internet. I encourage young people to contact the shooting clubs and come to try shotgun clay target shooting», told the 2004 Gold medallist Diana Igaly at the press conference organised on 16th of June in Budapest, the capital of Hungary.

«Athletes will arrive from 43 countries, there will be about 400 athletes. The range has been rebuilt for the Championship, we have one new range and we will prove that Sarlóspuszta and Hungarian Federation is able to prepare a candidature that offers  European Shooting Sport an unforgettable experience that satisfies all demands. We are ready for the Championships», says the President of the Hungarian Shooting Federation Mr. György Nagy.

«The Shooting range of Sarlóspuszta is a good place for Championships. The range is challenging while on the right and left side of the range there is a lot of green and high forest but the front view is different: short trees and a lot of sky where clouds are travelling. Anyway it is same for all athletes. We probably will not shoot records here but this circumstance makes the competition more interesting and exciting», explained Italian Giovanni Pellielo after his training in the TV interview at range.
