Sweden and Lithuania were the best in the EYL Northern Region Qualifications

The European Youth League Northern Region Qualification has been held on the 22nd – 24th of April in Kisakallio Sport Institute Finland. There were seven countries participated into the competition: Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Norway, Poland, Sweden and host country Finland. Europe was divided in the three regions and two best countries from both disciplines (air rifle and air pistol) per region advance to Final which will be organized in Italy later this year.

A team consists of three athletes and then you can have one substitute athlete who can be as a substitute and compete if the coach of the team would like to make some changes.

The winner of the air pistol qualification was the Team of Lithuania who won all matches. The second team who continues to the finals was Team Poland who lost one match (against Lithuania).

The Air rifle competition was tighter than the air pistol while Sweden and Finland both had three winnings before the last match, which was just between themselves (SWE - FIN). Both teams had equal number of winnings. The Match was the best what the shooting sport can offer. When the official competition shots were competed, the result was still equal. Shoot-off was needed. Sweden won the shoot-off with the difference of 0,2 points of the last shot! That was a great finish. Anyway both teams got the ticket to Final.

Results can be found here.
