THE 2017 EUROPEAN CHAMPIONSHIP WILL TAKE PLACE IN AZERBAIJAN

The 2017 European Championship (25/50/300m/Shotgun/RT, Men and Women, Junior Men and Junior Women, individual and team competitions) will take place in Baku, capital of Azerbaijan. The decision was taken by the ESC Presidium after examination of the application submitted by the Shooting Federation of the Azerbaijan Republic. The ESC Presidium also approved the proposed dates of the Championship: 15-31 of August, 2017.

Azerbaijan will be hosting many important competitions in the next few years. Among them are the ISSF World Cup Final (Pistol/Rifle/ Shotgun) to be held in Gabala on 21-28 October  2014, the 1st European Games in Baku on 12-28 June 2015, with 19 shooting events included in the program, the ISSF World Cup (Pistol, Rifle/Shotgun) in Gabala on 6-16 August  2015 and -  now – the 2017 European Championship.

By confirming Azerbaijan as hosting country of the 2017 European Championship, the ESC Presidium filled in the last vacancy in the list of the ESC Championships in 2016-2017. In 2016 the European Championship 10m will take place in Hungary, the European Championship for Juniors (Pistol and Rifle) in Estonia and the European Championship Shotgun in Italy.  In 2017 the European Championship 10m will be organized in Slovenia.

Decisions on the host countries of the European Championships in 2018-2019 will be taken during the next ESC General Assembly in 2015.
